With each passing year, maintaining your physical fitness becomes even more important. Since we naturally lose muscle and bone density as we age, it’s extremely important that strength and conditioning stays a part of our regular routine. This is why 5 Bridges Health & Fitness offers a variety of classes designed specifically for those who are Medicare eligible. Build muscle, improve cardiovascular fitness and embrace an encouraging community of exercisers just like you as you work toward the common goal of optimal health!

For our senior gym-goers, we offer various classes that target the major muscle groups and build strength and flexibility. All of our senior fitness classes are taught in our facilities by our diverse team of certified fitness instructors, who offer expert support and encouragement.

Classes We Offer for Our Boomers & Beyond

Classes taught by our certified fitness instructors provide another opportunity to engage in a supportive, encouraging exercise environment. Our SilverSneakers® Classic classes are included in your no-cost BASIC SilverSneakers® membership. Additional Senior workouts and Boomer classes are available for an upgrade to the program.

  • Boomer Cardio: A low impact, moderately intense cardiovascular workout guaranteed to make you move! Its easy to follow format brings back basic movement.
  • Boomer Cycling: Our Senior Cycling class is designed for older adults from 50 to 90. This 30-minute cycling session will improve your cardiovascular fitness and tone your legs, hips and glutes. Go at your own pace — there’s no rush!
  • Boomer Step: A total body workout using the popular 4 inch “Reebok” Step or using NO STEP at all! Perform BASIC step movements up, down and over the step. Listen for safety tips and cues to improve posture and core strength. Resistance training exercises to improve strength and stretching exercises to improve flexibility complete the workout.
  • Senior Circuit: Increase your cardio-vascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.
  • Senior Yoga: A yoga class specifically designed for Boomers and Seniors. This workout is a seated and standing practice with focus on the breath. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, range of movement and balance.
  • SilverSneakers® Classic: Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
  • Zumba Gold®: Designed to meet the needs of the active older participant, as well as those starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle. It’s a dance-fitness class with easy-to-follow moves and modified pacing creating a fun filled experience!

SilverSneakers® at 5 Bridges Health & Fitness

At 5 Bridges Health & Fitness, you will find the following benefits are included in your BASIC SilverSneakers® membership:

1. Equipment

All of our state-of-the-art equipment, including our popular seated ellipitical, is available to you. As a SilverSneakers® member, you will receive a personal orientation from a senior trainer. This instruction includes how to use equipment that will strengthen the heart muscle and improve muscle fitness.

2. Qualified Instructors

As a SilverSneakers® location, 5 Bridges Health & Fitness provides a Senior Advisor to help you throughout your fitness journey. Our Fitness Instructors and Trainers are certified to work with the unique needs of our seniors.

3. Social Events

Joining 5 Bridges Health & Fitness provides you with many social opportunities. You can participate in monthly community projects, such as the Central PA Food Bank; engage in social events, including monthly in-house Birthday Luncheons; enjoy outdoor seasonal activities, and sign-up for an annual bus trip to NYC!

4. Classes

SilverSneakers® Classic classes are offer at no cost with your BASIC SilverSneakers® membership. Other Senior & Boomer workouts are available for an upgrade to a SilverSneakers® PLUS membership.
